The Silver Surfer

I bought my first Vespa (a 1979 P200E) July 26th, 1997. My husband, Rodney, and I purchased it at a place called "Lenny's Cycle and Salvage" in south Omaha. There were actually two scooters...mine and a white 1980 P200E. I decided on mine because it was in better condition and there was a bit of scooter history behind it. The place who sold it to us had sold it to the original owner...but then it was called "Action Cycles". I was introduced to scooters in April of 1994 when I met Rodney. I used to ride around on the back of his 1980 P200E. On a summer evening in 1997 we were watching "Quadrophenia". I'd heard the soundtrack several times, but hadn't seen the movie before. Rodney and I went into the paved lot of a city park directly behind our townhouse. I rode his scooter for about 1/2 an hour, never making it out of first gear. That 1/2 hour changed my life...I never wanted to ride his again...I wanted one of my very own! A few weeks later we found The Silver Surfer (so named because of my love for the comic book character). Within 2 weeks I was out on the streets of Omaha with my husband. August (the 15th) of 1997 Rodney and I started The King Beez Scooter Club. We attended the 1997 Hard Luck Scooter Rally as well as the Kick Back and Relax Scooter Rally.

We've made a lot of good friends and club members since then...and hope to expand even more!!
